Cardiovascular Endurance ~ More Oxygen to Your Muscles! ~
Cardiovascular Endurance or Cardiorespiratory Endurance is the ability of your heart, lungs and blood vessels to supply enough oxygen to your working muscles for an extended amount of time.
Known as one of the 5 components of physical fitness, it's considered to be the most important part of fitness. It basically means how strong
your heart is, which is essential for a strong, healthy life.
Your heart is the most important muscle you have, and like all other muscles, it will adapt to the workload overtime. It's what controls the flow of oxygen throughout your body. Besides, your cardiovascular health has a huge impact on your performance.
Knowing this allows us to have personal control of how healthy our heart can be. But make sure you remember that there are other things that can effect your hearts health, like your cholesterol and blood pressure.
If you're looking to improve your endurance levels then you need to get moving! If you stay consistent, then over time you will improve your cardiovascular system, no doubt!
You can do ANYTHING...run, jog, walk, swim, hike, ride a bike, chase your dog, chase your kids, etc. Use your imagination, just get active.
Don't push yourself too hard at first, especially if your not used to getting your heart pumping hard.
You should always start off slow and listen to your body. If you stay consistent, then over time you'll definitely get used to it and it'll get easier for you AND you'll be able to go longer and push harder.
Training for Cardiovascular Endurance (Cardiorespiratory Endurance)
When you're training for more endurance, you need the ability to inhale large amounts of oxygen from the air which then gets transported into the lungs, then on to the bloodstream. From there the oxygen is circulated easily throughout your entire body via the circulatory system.
The goal is to raise your heart rate to about 140 bpm or higher and keep it there for at least 5 minutes.
Your basically getting your body to function at a higher than normal working level. This activates all your body's systems that's involved with your general health.
Since it's important to be able to breathe in more air, you should make sure that you're breathing right. So many of us are shallow breathers and don't take in the oxygen our bodies need which makes our lungs and heart work harder than they need to.
When our bodies are out of shape and our breathing is shallow, it makes it easier for us to give up on any workout, especially cardio. This is why you need a plan to start slow and work up from there.
You gotta get that heart rate up, doing that will strengthen your heart and increase your blood flow which in turn will increase your endurance levels.
If you get your cardiovascular endurance level up, it'll make life easier for you. Climbing a flight of stairs will be easier, walking longer distances will be easier, doing house work or yard work will be easier... daily life will be easier!
